2014 Club Activities
The Suffolk County Republican Women have had an exciting year with several events. The new Executive Board was sworn in at our Holiday Dinner in December. The board’s two-year term became effective on January 1, 2014. The new President is Ruth Ann DiLena previously First Vice-President and former Assistant Judicial Director of the NYSFRW.
In March we had an open membership dinner meeting at Trios Restaurant, Holbrook, NY. We featured the Living Well Essential Medical Spa and learned the newest treatments available to maintain our health and well being. Each attendee received a gift bag from Dr. Pierri. Dr. Pierri is the owner and operator of Living Well Spa. She is a renowned Oral Surgeon on Long Island and the first female Oral Surgeon in the United States. We received new memberships and there were many first time attenders.
In May we were honored to have former Governor Christine Todd Whitman as guest speaker at our Spring Luncheon. Gov. Whitman spoke of her tenure as New Jersey’s first female Governor. She stressed the importance of reaching across the aisle and compromising in government. Pictures were taken with our attendees and we presented Gov. Whitman with a Tiffany Bowl. The surprise of the day was having Linda Wagner, President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women, join us at the Luncheon.

In honor of Governor Whitman, Suffolk Women created a Journal filled with congratulatory remarks and best wishes to Governor Whitman from our elected officials, organizations and local businesses.
The month of July was our East End Summer Event. For all our members that live on the East End of Long Island SCRW schedules an event in close proximity for them. The event was held at the Hampton Hills Golf and Country Club in Westhampton Beach, New York. We were honored to have Rob Antonacci, and son in attendance. He is the Onondaga County Comptroller and Republican Candidate for New York State Comptroller. A Chinese Raffle was held to benefit our PAC Fund which in turn benefits our candidates. Legislator John Kennedy, Suffolk County Comptroller Candidate, Town Councilwoman Jodi Giglio of Riverhead and Sundy Schermeyer, Southampton Town Clerk spoke at the event.
Our September membership dinner meeting was held on September 10th at Trios Restaurant. The Suffolk County Police Department presented a powerpoint program on Identity Theft which was well received and also very timely. Distributed booklets gave many important tips on keeping personal information and identity safe and out of the hands of others.

We are a very active club and our goal is to continue our support of Elected Officials and Candidates with our PAC Funds and with our time and votes.
